Effective immediately masking is required for everyone when present on all inpatient units, in the Emergency Department (ED), the Urgent Care Centre (UCC), and the Children’s Outpatient Centre (COPC).
Care during pregnancy
Prenatal care
Learning about pregnancy, labour, delivery and childbirth begins before your hospital stay. You can help prepare yourself for childbirth and parenting by attending prenatal classes. Many groups in Kingston offer prenatal classes, including:
- Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Public Health
- Childbirth Kingston
- Kingston Community Health Centres
Prenatal appointments
It is important that you are seen regularly by your doctor or midwife as your pregnancy progresses, so that they can track the growth of your baby and monitor for other complications that could arise. KHSC’s obstetrical clinics offer prenatal check-ups for both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies.
Ultrasounds (Fetal Assessment Unit)
Ultrasound scans are important and may be ordered at different times in the pregnancy to confirm an estimated due date, screen for genetic conditions and assess the baby’s anatomy, growth and well-being. Every pregnancy is different in terms of when and how many ultrasounds are required; your pregnancy care provider will discuss what is right for your specific pregnancy.
Ultrasounds are usually done in the Fetal Assessment Unit at KGH site on Kidd 5 (after exiting the main elevators; you will find the registration desk behind the glass wall) but may be done in the main Radiology Department on Kidd 1.
