Effective immediately masking is required for everyone when present on all inpatient units, in the Emergency Department (ED), the Urgent Care Centre (UCC), and the Children’s Outpatient Centre (COPC).
Construction of a Women and Children’s Hospital
In 1892 the hospital publishes its first newsletter containing an appeal to the community for funds to construct a women’s hospital, laundry and surgical theatre.
The Doran wing opened in February 1894 and was named after Michael Doran, head of the Kingston Foundry and Iron Works, who had bequeathed $23,000 to KGH of which $20,000 was used for the construction of a Women and Children’s Hospital - a model women's hospital with separate wards for maternity, gynaecology and isolation plus its own operating room.
