Laura Talbot-Allan
Laura has substantial experience as a corporate director and in providing advisory services in governance, finance, strategic positioning, and risk oversight.
Ms. Talbot-Allan is currently on the Boards and Committees of: Canada Border Services Agency – Chair; Cataraqui Golf & Country Club – Vice-Chair; a member of the Nature Conservancy’s Ambassador Circle and a life member of Financial Executives International (Canada).
Until recently Laura was the risk oversight lead director for Desjardins Insurance Board for 10 years. Her past Boards and Committees experience includes: Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission; Pensions and Investments Management – Chartered Professional Accountants Canada; the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario - Chair; Accounting Standards Oversight Council of CPA Canada; Canadian Food Inspection Agency; Senior’s Association Kingston Region - Treasurer; Canadian Partnership Against Cancer - Finance & Audit Chair; Ontario Health Quality Council (HQO) – Treasurer and Governance Chair, amongst others.
During her career, she held senior executive roles with the University of Waterloo; the federal government including Secretary General & COO – Canadian Radio-Television & Telecommunications Commission; the Canadian Red Cross; Bank One (Canada); and several Canadian utilities.
Ms. Talbot-Allan has an MBA with highest honours from studies at the Universities of Ottawa and Manitoba; is a CPA (Quebec); plus, an ICD.D from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She has been named an Ambassadour of the Desjardins Group, awarded a Fellowship FCPA and the prestigious Quebec professional award Mérite du CIQ.
