Bio

Dr. Silva is a graduate of the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine and completed her residency training and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the University of British Columbia.

She works in the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario where she consults on a broad range of cancers in children. She also consults on pediatric hematology including bleeding disorders.

She teaches medical students and residents on topics in Pediatric Oncology and Hematology as well as General Pediatrics. She is an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. She is the District 7 Representative for the Ontario Medical Association, the Queen’s University Representative for the Academic Medical Forum of the OMA, a member of the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario Board of Directors, the Camp Trillium Board of Directors, the C17 Board of Directors and the Association of Hemophilia Clinic Directors of Canada. She is the vice president of the Clinical Teachers Association (CTAQ) and a SEAMO governor.

Research

Dr. Silva is an active researcher with a number of clinical trials in pediatric oncology and hematology.  She is the local Principal Investigator for the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) that runs Pediatric Oncology Clinical Trials. She has published over 75 peer reviewed articles and presented over 100 posters and abstracts
