The Kingston General Hospital Auxiliary has wrapped up another successful Teddy Bear Campaign, once again surpassing their goal of $20,000. Over the course of their campaign the Auxiliary saw more than 250 bears sponsored for a grand total of $27,000.

All the funds raised will be used to support Pediatrics. Two large-size cribs and a high-low exam table will be purchased along with weigh scales and an Omnicel fridge. Any remaining funds will be used for additional equipment required by the Pediatrics Unit in the future.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported our campaign as you helped in providing comfort to our youngest patients,” says Campaign Chair Heather Breck. “We are also grateful for the support of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 560 and the Branch 560 Ladies Auxiliary who, provided the funds to cover all the expenses of the our campaign. This allows us to direct all of the funds we raised to the purchase of medical equipment.”

The teddy bears will be delivered to pediatric patients at KGH and Hotel Dieu Hospital throughout the year. In addition, for the first time, bears will also be delivered to patients who live in communities in Northern Ontario that are served by the pediatric team at KGH.

“We also would like to thank groups from Lancaster Drive Public School, Frontenac Secondary School, Wilton Cheese Factory, Camera Kingston and "Photos with Santa" team who all made major contributions to our campaign,” says Breck. “We’re already looking forward to launching our 2017 campaign in the fall.”
