The Outbreak Management Team at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC), in consultation with KFL&A Public Health, has declared an end to the COVID-19 outbreak on the Kidd 3 unit of the Kingston General Hospital site.

The outbreak, which was initially declared on November 22 involved four patients and three staff testing positive for COVID-19. Patients, staff and registered family visitors for inpatients must continue to follow public health and infection control protocols when inside the hospital. Registered family visitors continue to be required to be fully vaccinated to enter.

Keeping our staff and patients safe is the top priority at KHSC. While our workforce is vaccinated, infections can, on occasion, occur in individuals who are fully vaccinated. We know that high vaccination rates amongst health-care staff and visitors limits the further spread of hospital-based outbreaks, while contributing to the reduction of more serious illness.
