Kingston General Hospital is southeastern Ontario’s leading centre for complex-acute and specialty care, and is home to the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario, as well as a number of other regional healthcare programs and services. Kingston General Hospital serves close to 500,000 people every year through our main hospital campus, located on the shores of Lake Ontario, at the edge of downtown Kingston, as well as through 24 regional affiliate and satellite locations.
The patients and families of this region count on us to be here, ready to serve them when they have high-risk pregnancies or very sick babies and children, a heart attack or a stroke, respiratory illness or failure, cancer, and life-threatening injuries that require immediate, emergency care. They come to us when they require specialized care that is not available in their local community; when they need heart surgery, brain surgery, or orthopedic surgery, critical care and life support, as well as dialysis, stem cell radiation and any specialized imaging for treatment and diagnosis.
In addition to our role throughout the southeast region, we also serve the local residents as a community hospital, caring for less acute needs that the residents of the Greater Kingston area may have.
Kingston General Hospital is fully affiliated with Queen’s University and is a research and teaching hospital, home to more than 2,400 health-care learners and 175 health researchers.
