Patient & Family Advisory Council member

In 2013 my husband died.   It was his desire to make his experience ease the next patient’s journey.  During his last months of life I stayed with him 24/7 in his hospital room, and during that time I became aware of what a Patient Experience Advisor does.   It is because of his journey through the medical system that I became a Patient Experience Advisor myself.  Through my work as an Advisor his experience is making a difference.  The many committees that I serve on are venues to explain the patient’s view of events.  My presence at these meetings has always been treated with respect and with a wish to make patients and caregivers more comfortable.  Changes have occurred because I was given the chance to be at the table.  The decision to become a Patient Experience Advisor is the best decision I have ever made.
